Anne Fortier: Juliet (***)

Written by Anne Fortier Juliet is a fictional romance book about modern Juliet of Shakespeare's star-crossed lover story Romeo and Juliet.

The story is in my opinion, in the beginning very slow-paced or perhaps rather nothing exciting happens for quite a long time. The main character Julia Jacobs (or Giulietta Tolomein) is a rather self-centered, self-pitying and shallow. First impression is extremely important, when reading a book and to be perfectly honest Julia didn't exactly impress me, which almost caused me to abandon the book before I had even turned 50 pages.

I prevailed and was rather glad that I crawled through the beginning, because the phase picks up after Julia gets her greedy hands in her mother's treasure box.

The story also tells about 14th century Siena and two lovers: Giulietta and Romeo. It is rather appealing that in one chapter you find yourself in modern Italy and next you're in a historical tragic story.

I would most definitely recommend this to almost everybody, though if you can't stand weak characters the beginning might be a little bit of a torture to you. The book is practicially a brick, so definitely not some light reading.

J. R. Ward: Dark Lover (***)

So I thought it was rather rude of me not to post a review about this book in English, since the original language of this book is in English.

As you probably notice the book cover is a little bit different from a Finnish translated one. I'm not sure that which one I like more... though I suppose it's not exactly relevant to the story itself.

Dark Lover is the first book in The Black Dagger Brotherhood book series and its author is J. R. Ward.

This books main characters are Beth Randall and the king of vampire society Wrath. The story revolves around their flaming romance and struggle against the bad guys who want to wipe out the vampires from existence.

The plot isn't exactly spectacular. The girl gets the guy and the guy gets the girl with some struggles and jealousy. Good prevails Evil. The book is rather cliché, but nonetheless quite entertaining. It's good for boredom and if you want some more detailed intercourse between the main characters this is definitely your book, though I wouldn't recommend this to anyone under 15 years old. The book contains quite a few profanities and, as I earlier mentioned, quite detailed sexual interactions.
